Basis of these terms: The Paper Punter is free to use. It does not take bets, accept payments, offer user accounts, show adverts or contain affiliate links. If any of that changes, these terms will be updated first.
1. Who we are
The Paper Punter ("we", "us") is run by Neil Bruce. Contact: hello@thepaperpunter.uk.
2. Using this site
By using the site you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it. The site is for people aged 18 and over.
3. What the site is (and isn't)
- We publish horse racing tips and record how they would have done on paper ("paper-only" results).
- We do not take bets, handle money, or offer gambling of any kind. We are not a bookmaker or betting exchange.
- Nothing on the site is a recommendation to place a real bet.
4. Tipster disclaimer
- No guarantee. Tips are opinions. Horses lose; there is no guaranteed winner or profit.
- Past results are not a guide to the future. Our paper record does not show what will happen next.
- Paper-only. Results are hypothetical, using the price shown on Sporting Life live odds at about 10:55 UK time on race day, with an imaginary £1 level stake settled at that price (starting price is recorded for reference but not used). Real bettors may get different prices, and paper records don't account for stakes you can't get on or bookmakers' betting limits. Rule 4 deductions are applied to winning paper returns, as a bookmaker would. Non-runners are treated as void (stake returned, no result recorded).
- Not betting advice. Our selections are opinions for entertainment and paper-only tracking. They are not a recommendation to bet, and you are responsible for any bet you choose to place elsewhere. Never bet more than you can afford to lose. See our Responsible Gambling page.
5. Accuracy
We try to keep information accurate but racing data (runners, non-runners, prices, results) can change or be wrong. We don't promise the site is complete, accurate or always available.
6. Intellectual property
Content on the site belongs to us or our licensors. You may view and share it for personal, non-commercial use with credit and a link. You may not copy it in bulk, scrape it, or republish it commercially without permission.
7. Acceptable use
Don't misuse the site: no hacking, overloading, scraping, introducing malware, or using it for anything unlawful.
8. Links to other sites
We may link to other websites. We are not responsible for their content.
9. Our liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that cannot be limited by law. Subject to that, as the site is free we are not liable for any loss arising from use of the site, including any losses from bets you choose to place based on our content. If you are a consumer, you keep your statutory rights.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version.
11. Law and courts
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you keep any protection the law where you live gives you, and you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
